Experience & Approach
Sophie specialises in working with neurodivergent individuals and the many intersections that shape their experiences across life stages. She works closely with families to better understand sensory needs, regulation patterns, and communication preferences, supporting stronger connections and more supportive relationships.
Sophie supports families at all stages of their journey — from early exploration and discovery through to post-diagnosis understanding and adjustment. With extensive experience working with school-aged children, young adults, and their families, Sophie helps clients navigate the education system and identify supports that align with individual learning needs within formal settings.
She is also an experienced facilitator of group therapy and psychoeducational programs. Sophie’s work is informed by neuroaffirming and trauma-informed perspectives, with key influences including Ross Greene, Mona Delahooke, and Steven Porges Polyvagal Theory, highlighting the connection between the brain, body, and emotional experience.
At the heart of Sophie’s counselling approach is a commitment to creating a non-judgemental, compassionate space where clients feel safe, accepted, and supported to move toward meaningful change.
